“Prayer and Color” è un’idea nata dall’iconografo maestro Enrico Morisco

con lo scopo di avvicinare i lettori ad un’arte davvero unica.

Enrico nasce nel 1984 a Bari, in Italia, e cresciuto in una famiglia cristiana cattolica

 - Bari è conosciuta da tutti non solo come la terra di San Nicola di Myra, ma anche per la sua posizione geografica essa è sempre stata un ponte tra l’ortodossia e il cattolicesimo essendo stata nel corso della storia, una terra toccata dall'impero bizantino, romano e ottomano.

Conseguito un master e una la laurea in lingue e letterature straniere all'Università di Bari, egli si specializza nella lingua inglese, russa e bulgara.

Egli inizia a dipingere durante i suoi primi anni di adolescenza e per molti anni ha creato icone fino ad oggi. 

Qual è la massima Bellezza e Perfezione assoluta? Alla ricerca della risposta, egli si è rivolto alle sante icone.

 

Dalla sua esperienza personale nella pittura, egli ha scoperto che l'arte moderna-contemporanea è una tipologia di arte auto-celebrativa dalla quale l’autore/artista cerca di auto-affermarsi interpretando nuovi stili lontani dall’autentica osservazione della Natura così da trasformare le opere d'arte, che oggigiorno ammiriamo, come semplici merci pronte ad essere vendute al migliore offerente.

A differenza l'Iconografia cristiana si fonda sulla Tradizione della Chiesa.

All'interno delle chiese, soprattutto in quelle ortodosse, si possono trovare icone di scuole, paesi, epoche e realizzate in stili diversi,

ma tutte venerate allo stesso modo dai fedeli.

Questo rende l'icona, dunque, simbolicamente molto più profonda e superiore alla maggior parte dei capolavori di qualsiasi genere artistico in quanto rivela la vera Bellezza, ossia Dio.

 

Enrico ha incominciato il suo percorso di studi sulla tradizione delle icone grazie ai suoi maestri greci del monastero di Vatopedi, del Monte Athos, dove ha iniziato per la prima volta la tecnica dell'arte iconografica bizantina, a seguire, la sua formazione presso la Scuola Teologica di iconografia San Luca a Mosca dove ha appreso la tecnica e gli studi della scuola russa.

E, infine, la School of Iconology Prosopon di NY laddove Enrico ha arricchito sempre più la tecnica dell'iconografia bizantina.

I suoi primi lavori, sono stati svolti a una chiesa cristiano-cattolica di Conversano, sempre in Puglia. A quel tempo, era alle prime armi.

Il parroco che gli commissionò la sua prima grande composizione della Deesis, fu sorpreso della tale opera tanto da commissionargli altri lavori.

 

Da quel momento egli accetta commissioni per la creazione di iconostasi, affreschi murali interni ed esterni per chiese, icone per la devozione personale, ceri pasquali e così via. Ha anche tenuto conferenze sull'iconografia e sulla fede cristiana ortodossa 

nelle chiese e nei campus universitari.

 

Le icone sacre, quindi, offrono ancora una volta la Verità dell’incarnazione di Dio di fronte all’odierna civiltà occidentale desacralizzata.

“Prayer and Color” is an idea that started in 2016 by Enrico Morisco a practicing - Catholic raised -  Italian iconographer and lecturer.

His passion and interest in iconography and the Orthodox Christian faith is visible in his work and lectures.

The idea aims to bring those seeking the Truth closer to a truly unique art and closer to God.

 

Born and raised in Bari, which is known for not only being the land of St. Nicholas of Myra, but also for its geographical position. It has always been a bridge between the Orthodoxy and Catholicism, a land throughout history, touched by the Byzantine, Roman and Ottoman empires.

Enrico’s passion for art and painting started early in his life during his teenage years.

 After completing a Master's degree in foreign languages ​​and literatures at the University of Bari, he specialized in English, Russian and Bulgarian.

What is the Truth behind ultimate Beauty and absolute artistic Perfection? In search of the answer, he found his path to iconography.

 

Enrico’s journey to studying the tradition of iconography starts at the Greek monastery of Vatopedi, Mount Athos, where he observed for the first time the technique of Byzantine iconographic art. After which this was followed by Russian iconography studying at the Theological School of iconography of St. Luke in Moscow.

In later years, the Prosopon School of Iconology in New York gives to Enrico the possibility to grow up his passion of Byzantine technique of iconography. His first works were carried out at a Catholic church in Conversano, also in Puglia. At that time, he was a beginner.

The parish priest who commissioned his first great composition of the Deesis (iconostasis) was surprised by this work and commissioned him to continue other works. Other noticeable work of frescoes of Enrico Morisco exists at the church of “Madre della divina Provvidenza” in Bari.

«праер анд колор» - идея, начатая в 2016 году Энрико Мориско, практикующим католиком, итальянским иконописцем и лектором. Его любовь и интерес к иконографии и православной вере видны в его работах и ​​лекциях. Путь Энрико к изучению иконописи начинается в греческом монастыре Ватопеди на Афоне, где он впервые увидел технику византийского иконографического искусства. После чего последовало изучение русской иконописи в Духовной школе иконописи Святого Луки в Москве. В последующие годы Школа иконологии Просопона в Нью-Йорке дает Энрико возможность развивать свою страсть к византийской технике иконографии. Его первые работы были выполнены в католической церкви в Конверсано, также в Апулии. В то время он был новичком. Приходской священник, который заказал свою первую великую композицию Деисуса (иконостас), был удивлен этой работой и поручил ему продолжить другие работы. Другая заметная работа фресок Энрико Мориско существует на

церковь «Мадре делла дивина провиденца» в Бари.

L'icona è Rivelazione di Dio ed è anche il Vangelo dei Poveri perché in tempi antichi la gente non era abbastanza istruita per comprendere la Sacra Bibbia e quindi i monaci evangelizzavano attraverso le icone.

 

L'iconografia è il massimo dei generi artistici e un'icona è più di un'opera d'arte.

Ogni iconografo deve rispettare le regole e i canoni della Tradizione per scrivere un’icona: mantenere il digiuno e la preghiera, sono fondamentali.

 

Non possiamo ridurre un'icona solo come una tavola di legno dipinta.

Un'icona è molto di più, ecco perché essa deve vivere in un contesto liturgico e sacro - solo in preghiera un'icona può realizzare il suo scopo.

 

L'iconografia è un servizio per la Chiesa e per la comunità di fedeli, e l’iconografo è un umile servitore chiamato all’obbedienza.

PHILOSOPHY

An icon is a Revelation of the mystery of God and the Gospel of poor people - in that time people are uneducated and monks used icons to spread the Christian faith.

   

Iconography is a superior type of art – the art of all arts. An icon is more than a work of art as it shows an important process.

The iconographer follows the process which respects the traditions and principles of writing an icon – fasting and obedience are basic. 

 

An icon is much more than a painted tablet or a piece of wood. It is a sacred painting that only true prayer can transform into a medium and a means of communication with God. That is why an iconographer should always establish a connection with God during the process.

 

Iconography is a service in the church and iconographers are humble servant.

It is important to understand that the dedicated life in Church is what matters.

ФИЛОСОФИЯ
 

Икона - это Откровение о тайне Бога и Евангелии бедных людей - в то время люди были необразованными и монахи использовали иконы для распространения христианской веры.

 

Иконопись - это высший вид искусства - искусство всех искусств. Икона - это больше, чем произведение искусства, так как он показывает важный процесс. Иконописец следует процессу, который уважает традиции и принципы написания иконы - пост и послушание являются основными.

 

Икона - это гораздо больше, чем нарисованная табличка или кусок дерева. Это священная картина, которую только истинная молитва может превратить в посредника и средство общения с Богом. Вот почему иконописец всегда должен устанавливать связь с Богом во время процесса.

 

Иконография - это служение в Церкви и для Церкви, а иконописцы - смиренные слуги.
